Joomla! sites are frequently inherited rather than chosen. Someone built it, it works, and the person who understood it has moved on. We host those sites and keep them current, without suggesting you rebuild in something else first.

Why Joomla! needs different handling
Most managed hosting is built around one platform and treats everything else as a folder of files. That shows up in small ways that matter: update channels that are not understood, extension updates nobody tracks, and support that asks you to check a plugins page which does not exist.
Joomla! has its own release channels, its own extension model and its own administrator area. A host that does not know the difference will tell you a site is up to date when it is not, because it checked the wrong thing.
Updates and extensions
We track the Joomla! version a site is running against the channel it should be following, and we track its extensions separately. Both are reported rather than assumed, because an extension left behind for two years is the more likely way in.
Updates happen on a schedule. Where a site has a staging copy, anything that touches templates or overrides is tried there first, since Joomla! template overrides are exactly the sort of thing that survives an update in theory and not in practice.
What the server does for you
These parts are the same whichever platform a site runs, and they are most of the value:
| Caching | Pages served from cache so repeat visitors and crawlers never reach PHP. Purged when you publish. |
|---|---|
| Backups | Nightly, to storage separate from the server, with each database dumped on its own so one site can be restored without touching another. |
| Blocking | Configuration and source control paths refused before they reach the site. Addresses seen attacking any site we host are blocked for all of them. |
| Certificates | Issued and renewed for you. Nobody needs a diary reminder. |
| Monitoring | Checked continuously, including whether the application actually answered rather than whether a cached page was returned. |
That last one is worth spelling out. A cached page can keep returning a cheerful 200 long after the application behind it has stopped working. We check that the application answered, not just that something did.
Moving an existing site
We migrate the site as it is. You give us access or an export, we stand it up on a preview address that search engines are told to ignore, and you confirm it looks right before the domain is pointed at us. Nothing changes publicly until you say so.
Who you deal with
Zevonix is a Florida IT services company with offices in Jacksonville and Palm Coast. Tickets reach a technician, and your team gets accounts in My Cloud Manager so they can see the state of their own sites without opening one.
We are an independent provider. Joomla!® is a registered trademark of Open Source Matters, Inc., and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by them.
Ask about your Joomla! site
Tell us the version it is on, or that you do not know. Either answer is a fine place to start.
